Message from the BCLA President, Gerry Van Beek

The BC Lacrosse Association is continuing the postponement of all in-person lacrosse activities until May 1, 2020. Updates to this date are determined by government and local health authority directives and situational changes. The COVID-19 pandemic is creating hardships for many people. We understand the frustration with the uncertainty of what will happen and when.

It is too early for any decision on whether the box lacrosse season, or some format of the box lacrosse season, will take place. We urge all our members; from teams, associations, leagues, and directorates to take the same approach. Abandoning on the entire box lacrosse season is detrimental and will permanently damage the Lacrosse in BC. We need our lacrosse community to be as strong and united. For the next few weeks, waiting to see what will happen will require much patience and calmness from all our members, and hopefully you, as leaders, are setting that example. We must support each other now and when we get our lives back to a new normal, and that will include the game of lacrosse.
